My favorite writing pen

July 9th, 2008

My favorite pen is just a slightly-higher-quality-than-disposable G2 Pro Pilot pen that takes standard Pilot gel pen refills. I use an Extra Fine Point 0.5mm refill, about as tiny as they come, so that I can write smaller and therefore faster. The gel ink is archival safe, so I feel comfortable using it in my “real” journals that exist in nicer notebooks, but also cheap enough to use for day-to-day note taking.

It’s not as heavy as some nicer pens that I’ve used, but I’ve found that the lightweight body actually encourages a tender grip, preventing painful hand cramps that I’ve experienced with less ergonomic or heavier pens.

What color ink do I prefer to use, you might be wondering? Black. I have some standard Pilot G2 red gel pens on hand for editing purposes, but nothing makes me love the act of writing more than a fine, even pen line in stark black.

(Pilot did not sponsor this blog post. I am just a big fan who certainly wouldn’t refuse a free box of refills if they were offered!)
